Why do some fragrances seem to last much longer than others?

People with dry skin usually find their fragrance holding time shorter than those with oily skin because oily skin has more natural moisture to hold in the fragrance.

PH levels (amount of acidity in our skin) also varies slightly from person to person. Our individual levels of PH will determine how each ingredient in a fragrance will react.

How can I make my scent last longer?

Fragrance lasts longer on some people than on others because of differences in our skin (oily or dry) and in our PH levels. To achieve a longer effect, try layering your fragrance. Using the fragrance bath gel, (if the company offers one), then the moisturizer or powder, and then the Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum or Eau de Cologne, will usually have a longer lasting effect.

Also, apply your fragrance low on the body, as well as behind your ears and on your neck, so that the scent rises and you won't lose it as quickly. A light spray on the hair can last all day.

What is the difference between a splash and a spray?

There is absolutely no difference in the fragrance. The difference is in the application only. However, a spray bottle, being ostensibly sealed all the time, may actually have a longer shelf life. Making the decision between spray and splash is entirely a matter of personal preference.

Why do some men wear cologne, and others prefer to wear aftershave?

A cologne's fragrance will generally last much longer than aftershave. However, many men choose to wear both. The fragrance lasts longer, you can use less of each, and you get the facial benefit of an aftershave.

Why does fragrance contain alcohol?

Alcohol makes the fragrance emanate from your skin. Without alcohol, you would be the only person who knew you were wearing any fragrance at all.

How can I keep my fragrance from going bad?

Keep all fragrance in a cool, dry area, and away from windows as sunlight can unbalance the various ingredients. An opened bottle should be kept in its box to insure a longer shelf life.

What are Unboxed Items?

Unboxed items are not compromised in fragrance quality, nor are they used.  Sometimes in transit to us from our suppliers, the box corners may become damaged, scratched, or dented in some way, but the product itself is still intact and sellable.  Because we may not have a boxed product available for that particular item, we make that item available to our consumers at a discounted rate.  Most people just throw away the designer box anyways and appreciate the additional savings.

What are testers?

There is no difference in quality between the regular fragrances and testers or unboxed fragrances. Testers are products manufactured by the original designer of the fragrance for promotional purposes. Some are offered in plain white or plain brown boxes with or without a cap at the discretion of the designer. Some might even have the word "tester" or "demonstration" written on the bottle and they are offered at additional savings to you because you are not paying for the designer box. Some testers come without caps or boxes, but are packaged securely to ship to the destination safely without damage.

Why did my product arrive cellophane wrapped?

All of our products arrive at our warehouse in the same state that they left from the manufacturer's warehouse. The reason that fragrance items are wrapped is to prevent any potential bottle leaks that may occur during shipping, and contain any smells within the box.

How long does a fragrance last?

This depends on the fragrance. A fragrance can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months, if stored correctly. Once a bottle of fragrance has been opened it should be used because all fragrance deteriorates with time: light, citrus-based perfumes in as little as six months; floral scents in about a year and a half.

Why doesn't the fragrance smell the same way I remember it?

Unfortunately, we do not have access to any of the fragrances. As we carry thousands of different fragrances, we are not familiar with how they are all supposed to smell to compare them.

When applying any fragrance please consider that there are several factors which can affect the natural smell of your skin and in turn, the way a scent smells on you. Everybody has different body chemistry. Therefore, a fragrance might smell good on one person but not as good on another. For instance, your mood, stress level, age, body chemistry, diet, and current medications may all alter the scents you wear.  Similarly, factor such as dry or oily skin can even affect the amount of time a fragrance will last after being applied. Therefore, we can not recommend any fragrances. Please also note, that on some occasions the manufacturer of a certain perfume/cologne may alter the formulation of their product, without notifying any of their distributors. This can cause the scent to vary. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

What are Unisex Items?

A unisex fragrance can be used by both men and women. Unisex fragrances are more subtle when it comes to masculine or feminine tones - which is why they can be worn by men or women.

What are the different concentrations?

Perfumes are mostly produced in several concentration grades and each of them has its own advantages. Usually, perfumes are made in concentrations of perfume, eau de perfume, eau de toilette, cologne. Difference between them is in concentration of perfume. Parfum is the strongest concentration of all the fragrant components.

Cologne has the lowest concentration.

We would like to point out that the product purchased was the eau de toilette version of the fragrance which is a lighter version of the parfum.

Concentration refers to the strength of the fragrance, or more specifically, to how much high grade alcohol and/or water that has been added to the fragrance oils. Parfum (generally the most concentrated form you can buy) has 15-25% perfume oil dissolved in alcohol. Any mixture with a lower proportion of oil to alcohol is known as an Eau.

  •     Eau Fraiche (Usually 3% or less perfume oil)
  •     Eau de cologne - EDC (2 - 5% perfume oil)
  •     Eau de toilette - EDT (4 - 10% perfume oil)
  •     Eau de parfum - EDP (8 - 15% perfume oil)
  •     Soie de parfum (15 - 18% perfume oil)
  •     Parfum (15 - 25% -- also sometimes referred to as Extract or Extrait)
  •     Perfume oil (15-30% perfume oil in an oil rather than alcohol base)

You may also see the term Parfum de Toilette.  Most companies use this term to describe a concentration that is either the same as Eau De Parfum, or between Eau De Parfum and Parfum.

The 3 most common perfume fragrances you will purchase are:

  1. PARFUM - This is one of the strongest perfume fragrances available. This means that you need to use less and the fragrance will last much longer depending on skin type.  Will last 6 to 8 hours.
  2. EAU DE PARFUM - EDP This is lighter than the Parfum and is less expensive, but still has long lasting fragrance smell.  Will last from 3 to 5 hours.
  3. EAU DE TOILETTE - EDT This is a lighter fragrance and is therefore most used for the casual everyday use.  It is less expensive than Eau de Parfum.  Will last for 2 to 4 hours.

Emulsion/After-shaves are lotions/gels you use after shaving, they prevent irritation and rashes.

After shave is a liquid one uses after they have finished shaving. It contains an antiseptic agent such as denatured alcohol, stearate citrate or witch hazel to prevent infection of cuts, as well as to act as an astringent to reduce skin irritation.

Aftershave splash is an antiseptic that has a lingering scent, while aftershave balm is a hydrating lotion with a mild scent that typically goes away soon after application. Since aftershave splashes are usually alcohol-based astringents, they often tighten and dry out the skin.

The difference between these is simply the ratio of fragrance oils to alcohol/water. Parfum (sometimes called Extrait de Parfum) has the strongest concentration of fragrance oils at 15-25%. Eau de Parfum has 8-15%, Eau de Toilette has 4-10%, Eau de Cologne has 2-5% and Aftershave 1-3%.

How should I apply my fragrance?

When applying any fragrance please consider that there are several factors which can affect the natural smell of your skin and, in turn, the way a scent smells on you.  For instance, your mood, stress level, age, body chemistry, diet, and current medications may all alter the scents you wear.  Similarly, factor such as dry or oily skin can even affect the amount of time a fragrance will last after being applied

Spray a mist of your favorite fragrance scent on your hairbrush.  The aroma will last for hours and make your hair smell wonderful!!  Some people will even spray a few squirts of their favorite fragrance directly into their shampoo and/or conditioner for an added fragrance smell.

As we all know, fragrance scent rises, so for a longer last to your perfume smell, spray all your pulse points, from your ankles, behind the knee, wrist, inside your arm, neckline, etc.... Remember to FIRST put on your fragrance scented body lotion or body creme before your perfume, this will help ensure your smell will last hours longer and you will not need to use as much of your perfume :).  So, if you get the gift set with all those added fragrance goodies, use them!!

What should I do if I can't get the sprayer to work?

On occasion, spray bottle may sometimes have issues that make it difficult to spray the fragrance inside. If this happens, it is usually a fault of the manufacturers, but here are two steps you can take to try and alleviate the problem:
  1. Remove the nozzle from the top of the perfume bottle. Run the nozzle under hot water. Dry the nozzle really well and place the nozzle back on the perfume bottle and test to see if it is unclogged.
  1. With the nozzle intact, turn the perfume bottle upside down on a soft flat surface (such as towel on a counter) and push on the nozzle until a clear mist comes out.

These steps should fix the problem. Please contact us if this does not fix the problem.

What are reformulations?

It is possible that the fragrance was reformulated by the manufacturer at some point. There are times where the manufacturer may choose to change an ingredient or alter the formula in some way that results in a change in the scent. Unfortunately, I am not sure if this particular scent has definitely been reformulated or not. If you have any other questions, please let us know.

What are Low Fill Items?

The item you will receive looks exactly the way it is pictured on the listing. As for the product being full, at 100% filled/capacity, it may seem like the item is not full, however, this is usually done by the manufacturer on purpose to allow the fragrance room to breathe. We guarantee you that all of the products on our website and all our partner sites are 100% new and original brand names. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
