The Royal Doulton is an English company producing tableware and collectables originated from 1815. It initially started its operation from London by designing and manufacturing excellent quality utensils and crystal decoration for home interiors. The Royal Doulton Company started as collaboration among 3 people named as John Doulton along with Martha Jones and John Watts with a factory at Vauxhall Walk, London. The company soon specialized in making stoneware including decorative bottles and salt glaze sewer pipes. The company was named as Doulton in the year 1853.

Henry Doulton was a second son of John Doulton who had a keen interest in Pottery making from the young age of 15. He launched a studio at the Lambeth pottery in 1871 and offered work to designers and artists from the nearby Lambeth School of Art. He gave numerous creative clay potteries and ceramics designing tasks to famous artists and craftsmen such as George and others like Mark Marshall and Eliza Simmance.

The Doulton Group acquired the small factory of Pinder, Bourne & Co located at Nile Street in Burslem. This factory made the company well recognized in the region known as The Potteries.

By the passing of time this company became very popular for its stoneware and ceramics under the imaginative supervision of Mr John Slater who worked with sculptures,vases, character jugs and decorative pieces designed by the creative person Leslie Harradine.
