ROYAL COPENHAGEN:

The factory started in the 17th century it was time when Europeans were highly mesmerized by the blue and white and white porcelain which used to sell abroad from China.

The company started its smooth operations in a rehabilitated post office in 1775. This company was founded by a chemist named as Frantz Heinrich Muller who was given a 50-year domination to produce porcelain. The company introduced their first manufactured pieces for the fine dining services of the royal family. The king Christian 7 while assuming and realizing his financial responsibility restyled the Royal Porcelain Factory in the year 1775. The company sold out its highly famous Blue Fluted dinner service combining with painted gold border and Danish flora decoration in 1790.

The factory was soon relocated to a modern factory building at in Frederiksberg. The Royal Copenhagen won the Grand Prix in Paris which gave it a global spotlight.

The company founder Heinrich Muller was a skilled chemist with specialization in mineralogy. This great pioneer was born on 1738 and died on 1820. For many years he continued experimenting on hard feldspar porcelain made from quartz, kaolin and feldspar. He spent all his time and money on his little ceramic heating system.

The scientist was finally ready in 1774 inviting prospective sponsors for donation of shares in a Danish porcelain factory but people were reluctant to invest money in a newly built clay factory. This trend suddenly got changed after the joint partnership of both royal family members the Queen Dowager Juliane Marie and her son Frederik they owned the factory in 1775. For almost a century, the Royal Danish Porcelain Manufactory was run by the Royal Family.

Some years later the factory was combined with the Alumina faience factory and moved from the centre of Copenhagen to new premises in Frederiksberg.

The company hired new creative manager as the painter and architect. This young man named as Arnold Krog revived this factory’s great original porcelain named as Blue Fluted. He developed a new technique for painting under the shiny finish which made it possible to illustrate scenery and apply other naturalistic decorations. This new porcelain was made known at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1889.
